Welcome to Candid Captures' Blog
My favorite little boy is turning 5! I've been photographing him since he was just a little blip in his momma's belly. Each session becomes my new favorite photo shoot with him. Since his last birthday the family has moved. So - for his 5th birthday shoot we explored his new community beach with his tackle box in hand. Mom wanted a fun, fishy filled portrait session and, as always, I think he gave us exactly what we were looking for! Happy birthday Zayden!!!
This little cutie turned one and I cannot believe it. It feels like just a few months ago I drove to the hospital to meet her and congratulate her gorgeous Momma! The invites for Ella's 1st birthday bash had been sent and the theme was to be Twinkle Twinkle Little Star; everything gold, pretty, and pink. Mom wanted a few fresh pictures of this peanut's face before we did the traditional cake smash. Ella lit up and embraced her job as model, but the minute the cake came out she was done. Mess? No thank you! Happy birthday, Ella!
Leamya, or more intimately known as Mya, is currently wrapping up 5th grade and mom wanted spring portraits just as unique as her daughter. We met at Patapsaco State Park on a overcast Saturday afternoon. First, Mya rocked some authentic Navajo wear, including shoes her mother wore on her wedding day. We snuck onto the train tracks and Mya enjoyed admiring the spring foliage. Then, in true diva fashion, she did a quick change into her "Hammer Time" romper. (her words, lol) Mom and I couldn't keep her out of the trees, but decided to roll with it. In the end, I don't think her portraits could have developed more perfectly!
A few weeks ago, I meet these cuties at Downs Park in Pasadena, MD. I'd never been and it might have just become one of my favorite places to shoot! Water views, trails, playgrounds, a DOG PARK... everyone had a ball. We wandered around a bit capturing candids and staging the kids in cozy spots before making our way to the playground. Henry and Emily were amazing sports and I loved catching up with their mom. The family, having two active military parents, has some months of separation in their future over which, my thoughts & prayers will remain with them daily. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to capture Henry & Emily!
The countdown to Christmas has begun and these two munchkins are ready! Meet Dylan and Bryleigh. Their mom is expecting baby #3 and wanted some photos to capture their last Christmas as a team of two. I meet the family at Gaver Farms in Frederick, Maryland. Having never been there, I was immediately impressed with the rolling hills full of Christmas trees. It was the perfect backdrop for this December shoot. Towards the end of our shoot we found this perfect path through two lines of trees that produced the dreamiest of Christmas photo lighting. My heart is smiling looking back at these images!
A few months ago, while my best friend was celebrating her 5th wedding anniversary in Costa Rica, her Momma contacted me to take some secret photographs of Z. She'd made arrangements to visit the fire house and engine number 57. Taryn's grandfather worked on engine 57. The firefighters were so welcoming! They let Z roam around, get in the truck, climb the ladder, and even try on the boots. At the end of our visit Z even received a patch. I loved being a part of this special surprise!!!
